We get a lot of questions about HVO fuel so we thought this week we would devote a blog post to explaining exactly what this fuel is, how it works and what the benefits of using it are.

In a world increasingly focused on sustainable energy solutions, HVO fuel has emerged as a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), is rapidly gaining popularity as an eco-friendly fuel source, but what exactly is it, and what are its advantages and disadvantages?

In this blog, we'll dive deep into the world of HVO fuel to help you understand its potential impact on our environment and energy landscape.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a renewable and sustainable alternative to traditional diesel fuel that is gaining popularity in various sectors, including the use of diesel generators.

HVO is derived from vegetable oils and animal fats, and it is produced through a process called hydrotreatment, which removes impurities and contaminants from the feedstock to create a high-quality fuel that can be used in diesel engines.

One of the main advantages of HVO is its low emissions of greenhouse gases and other harmful pollutants. HVO has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to fossil diesel, and it can reduce the emission of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and other pollutants by up to 90%. HVO fuel is one of the cleanest fuels on the market. It’s a second-generation, synthetic, advanced renewable diesel alternative that eliminates up to 90% of net CO2 and significantly reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx), particulate matter (PM) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.
